SMSF v APRA Suitability Test
We provide financial advisers with a tool that creates a detailed Discussion Paper considering the differences between SMSFs and APRA funds specifically tailored to the clients situation. It’s not an advice document. It’s designed to be used in conjunction with an advice document. We believe it deals fairly with differences between the two so, though it does not offer any recommendation, the analysis may support the establishment/retention of an SMSF or it may support the utilisation of an APRA fund, simply on the weight of the evidence presented.
The tool considers two scenarios;
- the decision to establish a new SMSF dealing with comparative fees and features and
- the continued suitability of an existing SMSF comparing features and pulling historical fees from our data.
This tool is designed to assist advisers to, not only providing a useful discussion document, but also to satisfy dealer group requirements imposed as a response to ASIC’s guidelines. It is only available to advisers. It is not available to trustees.
